Social Traders launches online support petition for Social Enterprise Coalition 2010 Charter

The Social Traders petition is hosted online at http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/sec-manifesto/

Social Traders, the South West social media organisation that promotes the development of the social enterprise movement across the UK, has launched an online petition of support for the recently published Social Enterprise Coalition 2010 Charter.

The aim is to complement the SEC 'No More Business as Usual' Manifesto that is being endorsed by MPs and parliamentary constituency candidates in the weeks leading up to the next general election.

Bob Northey, Director of Social Traders, believes that the six commitments of the charter represent a significant opportunity for the social enterprise sector to grow over the next decade.

He said 'This is a chance for thousands of people who represent social enterprises at the grassroots of both urban and rural comunities to add their weight by signing up to the charter themselves'.

Signing up to the charter is simple and straight forward requiring the names and organisations of those signing; these are published instantly adding to the online list of signatories.

The petition is hosted online at http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/sec-manifesto/ and will remain open until the date of the general election. This initiative by Social Traders has been approved by the Social Enterprise Coalition.
