Social Enterprise Scoops prestigious Green Apple Awards

Hill Holt Wood has become the first Social Enterprise to be crowned “Champion of Champions”

Hill Holt Wood scooped three prestigious awards at the recent Green Apple Awards hosted by The Green Organisation, including the top award at the ceremony; “Champion of Champions”.

Nominated by WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd.) Hill Holt Wood’s innovative Eco-Community Hall was praised by the judges and awarded Gold for “The Housing Associations Green Apple Award for the Built Environment and Architectural Heritage 2009” and helped the environmental Social Enterprise to pick up the “Green Champion 2009” award.

CEO Karen Lowthrop, collecting the awards on the day on behalf of Hill Holt Wood, said:

“In partnership with Simon’s Design Team and the Architectural dept of Lincoln University this self build project has been carried to completion by our in-house team of Rangers, Learners and volunteers without whom this project would not have gotten off the drawing board. We are of course grateful to our main sponsors WREN for all of their support which is so critical to the project.

“It is a real honour to be named the Champion of Champions. It is great recognition of the contribution that Social Enterprise makes to protect the environment.”
