What’s in store at the RBS SE100 awards evening?

SE100 winners 2010

The overall growth champions in 2010, The Grow Organisation, with the great and the good.

We are thrilled to be able to offer winners a share of £25,000, courtesy of RBS.

We believe in celebrating good things. This means creating prizes, running an awards ceremony and embracing good-spirited competition. Through the RBS SE100 league table we aim to celebrate the growth of the social business marketplace and the positive change that the organisations in that marketplace achieve.

The great and the good of the social enterprise world as well as those entered on the RBS SE100 Index will be joining us on Monday 11 July. The special ceremony will be held at Rich Mix, a social enterprise located in the heart of east London that offers live music, film, dance, theatre, comedy, spoken word and a range of creative activities for people of all ages and cultures. All profits go back to support education, arts and community activities which nurture new and local talent.

Minister for Civil Society, Nick Hurd, and former Apprentice star and a former UK Social Enterprise Ambassador, Tim Campbell, who is founder of the Bright Ideas Trust, will be joining Ian Cowie, chief executive of Business and Commercial Banking at RBS to present awards to our Growth, Impact and Trailblazing Newcomer champions.

An awards ceremony wouldn’t be complete without prizes, so we are thrilled to be able to offer winners a share of £25,000, courtesy of RBS. In addition we have the support of Hill Holt Wood, a small (34 acre) woodland operating as an environmental social enterprise and controlled by a voluntary board of directors representing local communities and councils as well as local and national businesses. Thanks to Hill Holt Wood we will be furnishing our winners with wonderful mementos from the evening.

We’ll be making things look pretty with the wonderful Thinking Flowers? an ethical floral design consultancy, which highlights unethical elements of the cut-flower industry and offers an alternative - namely floral design with a conscience and a meaningful, minimal and modern design concept.

We are delighted to confirm that we will be joined by BlueJam, a social enterprise running a youth and inter-generational Music and Arts programme in Cumbria and London.

Specialising in the creation of original music and art in a variety of genres, media and contexts, BlueJam promotes innovative and high quality music and arts activity in an inclusive and socially constructive way. Prestige Jazz is an ensemble formed by BlueJam tutor and trumpeter, Geoff Bartholomew. Keeping guests entertained throughout the evening, this trio will play classic jazz, swing and blues from Ellington, Monk and beyond!

And finally, the Wise Group, an entrant on the SE100 Index, will help us capture the evening’s activity on film through its film unit, VideoWise. Over the last 25 years the Wise Group has supported more than 25,000 people in Scotland and North East England previously excluded from the job market. It increases job and training opportunities for people, while also contributing to the regeneration of communities, and helping to create a fairer and greener society.

Make sure you look your best because you might be interviewed to feature in the film!

So there you go, a fantastic group of social enterprises have come together to create this event. We hope you enjoy the evening!
