The Google map which shows the RBS SE100 fastest growers

The power of Google has been harnessed to create more information about the RBS SE100 Index with the 100 fastest growers pinpointed on a map of the UK.

The map was made for free by social enterprise business advisor Bob Northey, founder of Social Traders.

He said: ‘I want to use my expertise in developing these maps to raise awareness of social enterprise. The RBS SE100 initiative is hugely important to that and hopefully something that is going to continue year on year.

‘This map is just another way of looking at the results in a geographic context.’

Northey, who has worked in the social enterprise sector for 25 years, said that there was a need for more statistics in the sector, which is why he was pleased to see the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) throwing its weight behind the initiative, run by Social Enterprise.

Northey also said he was ‘extremely positive’ about the increased awareness of social enterprises particularly with the growth of community interest companies (CICs).

He has created a number of other google maps that promote social enterprises including one for CICs in Cornwall, the area where he is based, one for Social Enterprise Mark holders, which has received over 1,200 views, and one for Social Firms UK.
