The School for Social Entrepreneurs has opened in Devon

The fast-growing School for Social Entrepreneurs, which provides support to individuals planning to set up organisations delivering sustainable social change, has opened its latest branch in Devon.

The school, which has received financial backing from the Office of the Third Sector, will be run by a coalition of local organisations including the Dartington Hall Trust, Devon County Council and Business Link.

Devon School for Social Entrepreneurs is open for applications, with the first programme to run from January to December 2010. Interviews will be held in November 2009, when aspiring social entrepreneurs will be given the opportunity to discuss their ideas. To be eligible, students will need to be based in Devon and working on their idea for a minimum of three days a week with a view of it becoming full time after completing the course.

Alastair Wilson, CEO of the School for Social Entrepreneurs UK, said: 'We are hugely excited to see social entrepreneurs being supported in Devon to both learn and develop new skills and to create sustainable, effective organisations.'
