Who's Involved
The RBS SE100 Index is run by Social Enterprise magazine, in partnership with RBS.
We are also lucky to have the support of a host of other support organisations from all sectors, helping to spread the word about the index to their members, giving prizes and also sponsorship. Particular thanks are due to The SROI Network and to Buzzacott accountants, for their fantastic support on impact reporting.
Mobile telecomms provider O2 has recently come on board as a corporate supporter, with the help of social enterprise marketing agency Livity.
Among the representative bodies supporting the index, our thanks go to the CIC Association, Co-operatives UK, the Development Trusts Association, RISE, Senscot, the Social Enterprise Coalition, Social Firms UK and all the network organisations representing the social business sector across the countries and regions in the UK.
RBS Community Banking
The Community Banking team at The Royal Bank of Scotland Group (RBS) is passionate about adding value to the whole social enterprise sector and is committed to making enterprise happen for social businesses that may struggle to access mainstream financial services.
Our Community Banking team understand the unique needs and challenges social enterprises face, and ensure they have access to the advice and guidance they need to develop. Over the past 10 years we have offered financial solutions and support to a wide and diverse range of third sector businesses.
RBS knows the value of face-to-face contact, and our extensive branch network remains at the heart of every community. That's why more Business Managers than ever are based in local branches and why we have dedicated Community Development Managers across the length and breadth of Britain.
In addition, during these challenging economic times, we have implemented a number of measures to help our small business customers trade through the economic downturn. For example, we have made a commitment not to increase overdraft pricing for small businesses, and we have also pledged to continue to provide committed overdrafts to businesses. This means that, unlike other providers, our overdrafts are not repayable on demand and are in place for 12 months from the date they are agreed.
Duncan Sloan, Head of Community Banking at RBS said: "At RBS we have played an active part in making and supporting the social enterprise market in the UK for more than a decade.
We are extremely excited about the RBS SE100 Index, which represents the next step in our long-term commitment to the sector. We believe that the index will promote and recognise social enterprises as serious, profit making businesses, and drive home the importance of measuring social impact."
